Needlework & FabricWe are extremely experienced in framing all types of fabric from old and delicate samplers to signed sporting shirts. Framing should beautifully display the work but also protect and preserve it for the next generation. And all framing techniques are fully reversible when done to conservation or museum standards.
All these pieces of fabric must be handled with care and consideration. There must always be an airgap so the glass never touches the fabric, this can be achieved by introducing a mount or adding a spacer to the frame so the glass sits away and isn’t squashing the material. We use many different techniques to secure and support the fabric, from lacing cross stitches, hand sewing an Indian embroidery to mountboard and stitching or tagging down a rugby shirt. Our team at Gleeson Framers will discuss the various options with you so we find the very best possible solutions. Your fabric will not only be protected but will also be a unique piece of art on your wall. |
